Macro lenses work great for eye level shots of food to show height. They also work well for 45-degree angle shots, which makes it seem like you were seeing the food right in front of you. The Tamron 90mm F2.8 DI VC lens will allow you to get as close as 11.8 inches to your subject in order to highlight fine juicy details. A non-macro lens works great for flat lay over top type shooting. #2 Is a prime lens the best lens for food photography?     When it comes to prime or zoom lenses for food photography, each one has their pros and cons. What’s great about using Tamron’s 28-75 f/2.8 for food photography is that you have the ability to keep the camera fixed in one position and quickly zoom in and out to change composition. Zoom lenses make life easier when shooting over head shots as you could fix the camera, arrange the elements, and make fine adjustments to the zoom to either remove or show more elements. #3 What aperture works best for food photography?  The 28-75mm has an aperture range from f2.8-f22 and f2.8-32 on the 90mm macro.
